Lookbook - the TIEDYE collection

To compliment our colourful cotton wax print designs, we decided to create our very own limited edition tiedye range of headwraps using a polyester cotton blend fabric.

We used non-toxic dyes to prepare the fabric. Elastic bands were used to create the spiral pattern and two separate colours were mixed to get that vivid orange colour. We named this headwrap PEACHY PEACH.

The polyester cotton blend fabric is great for the first-time wrapper or for those just wanting a basic headwrap.

Lookbook - MOTHER and DAUGHTER photoshoot

We were approached by Karen to do a photoshoot with her and her daughter Zabrina. As we enjoy styling different ethnicities and age groups, we were eager to proceed.

Mama Karen and daughter Zabrina wear batik headwrap GARNET - colour palette red, white and black - look, smart/casual. Headwrap styled in THE TOPKNOT.

Like we do for all our photoshoots, we sent the mama and daughter team our mood-board suggestions which resulted in quite a bit of anxiety. But once we explained that all they needed was to check their personal wardrobes, they ended up having fun with choosing similar clothing items. Karen teamed a red midi dress and black sandals to team with headwrap GARNET while Zabrina chose a black leather jacket, white bodysuit and red maxi skirt.

Batik headwrap ORCHID - colour palette blue, lilac, black - look, casual. Headwrap styled in THE BANDEAU.

To team with headwrap ORCHID both Karen and Zabrina opted for blue denim jeans - Karen chose a loose-fitting cap-sleeve powder blue top while Zabrina chose a contrasting black short-sleeved top. Both wore sneakers.

Ankara headwrap AMERIE - colour palette black, look casual/sophisticated. Headwrap styled in THE BOW.

Headwrap AMERIE is a bold design! We thought a black ensemble would make the purple and turquoise splashes of colour pop even more. So Karen chose a sophisticated black maxi dress with side peepholes - Zabrina opted for a black scoop neck body suit teamed with black skinny jeans. Both wore sandals to complete the overall look.

DH would like to thank Karen and Zabrina for requesting this photoshoot. It was a challenge to put together a mood-board/lookbook that would compliment the age difference in an attractive way. Each headwrap was styled according to each separate look and in such a way as to make the most of the styling technique/angles. All styling ideas, accessories and lipstick was supplied by DH owner/founder CHARMAINE who was also responsible for doing/overseeing the complete photoshoot.

NOTE: In line with our mission, none of these images have been photoshopped!
